چکیده
The authors describe a method for the basic and RF field inhomogeneity estimation in NMR based on the measurement of T2 and T2*. The method combines the gradient and spin echo acquisition techniques to differentiate the T2 and T2* relaxation times. Exponential approximation of the relaxation process has to be performed. Experimental results for the plastic and copper specimens are shown.

Regularized Estimation of Main and RF Field Inhomogeneity and Longitudinal Relaxation Rate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Regularized Estimation of Main and RF Field Inhomogeneity and Longitudinal Relaxation Rate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging by Amanda K. Funai Chair: Jeffrey A. Fessler In designing pulses and algorithms for magnetic resonance imaging, several simplifications to the Bloch equation are used. However, as magnetic resonance (MR) imaging requires higher temporal resolution and faster pulses are used, ...
متن کاملB Inhomogeneity Distortion in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic Imaging
In this paper we reconstruct the 3-D MR spectroscopic data acquired using an echo-planar spectroscopic imaging (EPSI) sequence. We propose to compensate for 0 B inhomogeneity artifact by using the 0 B field map and * 2 T decay estimated from a higher resolution, multi-slice proton imaging data scanned with similar shimming to the EPSI one. We employ total variation (TV) regularization to obtain...

متن کاملA Model-Independent, Multi-Image Approach to MR Inhomogeneity Correction
We present a technique for model-independent estimation of the inhomogeneity effect across multiple different acquisitions of the same subject, on the assumption of equal inhomogeneities in each image. The technique operates by integration of smoothed estimates of the local derivative of the bias field. Combination of evidence from multiple images is achieved at the derivative estimation stage ...
متن کاملAutomated brain tissue segmentation based on fractional signal mapping from inversion recovery Look-Locker acquisition
Most current automated segmentation methods are performed on T(1)- or T(2)-weighted MR images, relying on relative image intensity that is dependent on other MR parameters and sensitive to B(1) magnetic field inhomogeneity. Here, we propose an image segmentation method based on quantitative longitudinal magnetization relaxation time (T(1)) of brain tissues. Considering the partial volume effect...
